Developmental Editing

In a developmental edit, I will read through your draft with an eye toward strengthening plot, characterization, themes, and worldbuilding. I will not be looking for grammar problems at this stage, but instead, I will help you make your content the best it can be before you start your final draft and polishing.

What you get: Notes in the comment feature throughout the document and an ending write-up of 3-6 pages with specific advice on structure and character development.

What it costs:

.008 per word

For a 100k manuscript, you would pay $800.

Line Editing

Line Editing involves a review line-by-line of a nearly finished product. I go through your entire piece looking for grammar problems, typos, and inconsistencies in terminology/name spellings. In a proofread, I will not question plot structure or characterization.

What you get: Line by line comments and track changes on the Word or Google document.

What it costs: 

.006 per word

For a 100k manuscript, you would pay $600.

Proofreading

Proofreading is the end of the line and will only be done for manuscripts that have already been through developmental and copy edits. These will check for remaining errors and inconsistencies but won't involve major changes.

What you get: Line by line comments and track changes on the Word or Google document.

What it costs: 

.0045 per word

For a 100k manuscript, you would pay $450.

Sensitivity Reading

This service involves a full read of your manuscript from an experienced reader, preferably in your genre, who can give you recommendations and a final heads up before you head into publishing. I won't be doing editing services, but will instead read your manuscript critically for reactions as well as specific sensitivities. 

I specialize in gay and lesbian fiction and neurodiverse characters. I prefer to read YA, fantasy, urban fantasy, paranormal romance, romantic suspense, and contemporary. 

What you get: I can provide perspective on lesbian and nonbinary characters, as well as neurodiverse characters with mental illness or autism. You will get a 3-6 page response on specifically requested problems.

What it costs: .005 per word. For a 100k manuscript, you would pay $500.

World-building Consultations and Coaching

One of my greatest strengths as a writer is an understanding of world-building. In a world-building consultation, I can discuss the world you are working on with you, give you suggestions and activities to help you flesh it out, and point out problems or potential contradictions.

What you get: Each session will be on hour via Google Hangout or Skype. However, if we hit a good stride, you can sign up for another session so we can keep talking after you've worked on your piece a bit.

What it costs: $45 per session. However, if you pay for a package, you'll get a discount. 5 sessions= $175. Ten sessions= $350.
